Tomato fun facts
- Tomatoes contain high amounts of Vitamin C, Vitamin K and potassium and are chock-full of lycopene, an antioxidant that helps reduce the risk of heart disease
- Each tomato flower has mail and female parts, so fertilization can happen by bees, or even a small vibration or wind movement
- While typically red in color, tomatoes also come in yellow, orange, green and purple, making some beautiful dishes
- Diced, sliced or chopped, use tomatoes to make salsa, on tasty bruschetta or diced in tacos or omelets
- Tomatoes have very little impact on other crops when cultivated and – because you can eat the entire fruit – less food waste
